The Kogi State Government has allocated ₦97 million for the comprehensive development of Okene Central Community Secondary School, Agasa-Uvete. This was revealed by the General Manager of the Kogi State Community and Social Development Agency, Chief Dauda Momoh, who represented Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo at the flag-off ceremony and presentation of a cheque for the community’s development plan (CDP).
The ambitious project, part of the Nigeria Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) program, aims to address critical infrastructural deficits in the school. It includes the complete renovation of a block of four classrooms, the construction of ventilated improved pit toilets, and the provision of a motorized borehole.
Chief Dauda Momoh emphasized the strategic importance of the intervention, citing the school’s historical significance and its role in producing prominent personalities, including himself and former Governor Yahaya Bello. He described the initiative as a “special intervention project” fully funded by the government and appealed for community cooperation to ensure its success.
The project chairman, Hon. Jimoh Aliu, commended the Agency for facilitating the initiative and expressed deep gratitude to Governor Ododo for approving and releasing funds for the development. He assured the government of the community’s full support and cooperation throughout the project’s execution.
Students, teachers, and community members expressed joy over the planned upgrades, highlighting the positive impact the development would have on the learning environment. They pledged to actively support the projects to ensure their successful completion.
The NG-CARES program underpins the project, reflecting the state government’s commitment to enhancing educational infrastructure and fostering resilience through grassroots development initiatives.
